Enrichment Curriculum

We want our pupils to experience a wide range of learning opportunities and so often, whilst being of great importance, we emphasise and focus a large amount of time on Literacy and Numeracy.  We have in the past provided experiences beyond our core curriculum after school – but the timing of these did not suit the vast majority of our pupils e.g. bus people and those with siblings etc.

Therefore, we have embedded a new system which allows more children to learn and fine tune skills beyond our core curriculum. At the beginning of every term every child from P4-7 selects an Enrichment activity of their own choosing to take part in. The activities take place on Thursday afternoons between 2pm and 3pm and the children are in smaller groups of mixed years. At the end of each termly block the children are invited to reflect on their experiences and communicate the new skills that they have acquired through our Enrichment Curriculum.

Active Travel

At Bloomfield Primary School we are encouraging Active Travel. We are working very closely with Sustrans who are a charity that work in communities all over the UK to promote active travel. Last year we achieved our Sustrans Bronze School Mark for Active Travel. We are now working towards our Silver School Mark.

Look out for more information coming soon. And don't forget you can travel to school everyday by walking, scooting or cycling.
